Cover 6 Foundation

We've got your six.

Cover 6 Foundation is a veteran-run nonprofit that helps veterans and their families find safe, stable homes and get back on their feet.

Who we are

Cover 6 Foundation is a nonprofit charity started by a Marine Corps veteran on Long Island, New York. We help veterans and their families get into safe, stable homes, with real support behind them.

Right now we are starting in Walton, a small town in the Catskill Mountains of Delaware County, New York. Many veterans there need a stable place to live, and the town has welcomed us. We are buying move-in-ready homes and renting them to veterans and their families. Most of the rent is paid through HUD-VASH, a housing program run by HUD and the VA, and a VA case manager works with each veteran on health, work, and benefits.

We do this because the watch does not end when the uniform comes off. A veteran who has a steady home has a steady place to build from.

What we do

Homes

A front door of their own

We rent homes to veterans and their families, one household per unit. Every family gets its own space and its own front door.

Support

Help that stays

We work with the VA so each veteran has a case manager for health care, jobs, and benefits. We handle the home. They handle the rest.

Community

Built by the town

We hire local contractors and work with local veteran posts, so the town that welcomes these veterans helps build their homes.

Why we are different

Most charities spend a big share of every donation just running themselves. We set up Cover 6 to work another way. Our goal is for our partner network of veteran-owned businesses, VOB Corps, to cover our operating costs, so that the money you give goes to veterans.

We also plan every home to pay for itself on rent. That means your gift helps us add the next home instead of just keeping the lights on.

Culture first. Economics second. Mission always.
